EASO participated in a preparatory session for speakers in the framework of the training for candidates as Volunteer Guardians for Unaccompanied Minors, held in Rome, Italy on 10 October 2017 and organised by the Italian Ombudsperson for Children and Adolescents with the support of EASO. During the session, two members of the EASO Training Unit supported the speakers in group activities.
Around thirty speakers, from different organisations working in the field of migration and childhood, participated in the session to define a common harmonised approach in preparation of the training for candidates as volunteer guardians, which will be delivered in different Regions of Italy.
Following the preparatory session, the EASO Training Unit participated in a training session for candidates as volunteer guardians for unaccompanied minors, also organised by the Italian Ombudsperson for Children and Adolescents with the support of EASO, in Florence, Italy on 20-23 October 2017.
Fifty candidates participated in this second training, providing the trainees with an overview of the volunteer guardianship in the framework of the new Italian law on unaccompanied minors. The four-day training was delivered by around twenty speakers, from different organisations working in the asylum and childhood field, including two staff from EASO.
