Seventeen officials from two EU Member States (Belgium and Czech Republic) and two Western Balkans countries (FYROM and Serbia) participated in the Regional Train-the-Trainers sessions on the EASO Reception Module, that took place from the 3rd to the 6th of October 2017 at the Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons in Brussels.
Delivered by trainers from Belgium and EASO, the training on the Reception module aimed at participants who are in direct contact with applicants for international protection in the reception context. In line with the EU Reception Directive (2013/33/EU), the Reception module provides practitioners with knowledge and skills related to the various phases of the reception process. These include the identification of special needs of applicants for international protection and working with vulnerable groups including unaccompanied minors.
The four-day training included sessions on content, as well as on didactics and on the use of the e-learning platform, enabling participants afterward to deliver training on this module at a national level. The sessions also provided the trainees with the opportunity to exchange experiences, practices, and challenges faced during in work in reception centres.
