Patricia Van de Peer, Head Department of Asylum Support

Patricia Van de Peer took up the position of Head of Department of Asylum Support on 1 November 2016, after a preceding secondment to EASO for seven months in the EASO Athens’ Coordination for the Operations in Greece.She formerly was responsible for Migration and Asylum, in particular the CEAS related Recasts and the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund including their legislative negotiations as  senior staff member in the Secretariat of the Committee of Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament, and served before in the Directorate-General of the Presidency, in particular in the Directorate Legislative Acts.She started her professional experience as a Barrister, and served afterwards for a number of years as a Prosecutor in the Criminal Court, the Juvenile Court and the Labour Court at the Antwerp Court of First Instance. Her main specific responsibilities related to minors and unaccompanied minors, trafficking and allocation of rights of subsidy assistance to persons in need, including applicants and beneficiaries of international protection.She fostered professional exchanges with the UK Refugee Council in Resettlement and academia including the Migration Policy Center. She was part of projects of the King Baudouin Foundation, in particular on reception of applicants for international protection.
